VCAL Mario Kart Tournament

By VCAL Students - Jack M, Lizzie C, Bailey R

During the last four weeks of Term 2, the VCAL students planned and ran a Mario Kart tournament for all students from Junior, Middle and Senior school.  We did this project as a part of our VCAL program to meet some of our outcomes.

We started by brainstorming ideas on how to operate the tournament over the last two weeks we ran it.  It was a gold coin donation to participate and all the money earned went into the prizes for first, second and third place.  The students had to go through series of races and if they came first or second in a race of four opponents, they would move onto the next round.

We narrowed the competition down to four racers and they battled it out in the final race.  This consisted of Caine of Yr 11, Ruben of Yr 9, Jed of Yr 7 and Charlie of Yr 4.  The final consisted of the best of four separate races.  Everyone played really well, but by the end Caine was the champion of the tournament with Jed coming close second and Charlie and Ruben tying for third place.

It was a great success and the project went really well, the energy from the students inside the room at every race was amazing.  The VCAL class would like to thank everyone who participated and came along, supporting those who were playing for creating an awesome atmosphere, we hope that we can continue to do projects like this around the school.
