The local balloon man declares the outbreak of an alarming trend: citizens are spontaneously bursting. With its diminishing population, this is a town inhabited by not-quite-together people who are constantly in analysis. Elliot, a hapless balloon enthusiast, struggles to uncover the cause of the random implosions and convince everyone they need help before they all disappear into thin air. Man the Balloon is a satirical, absurd parable of an insecure, small-minded society unwittingly bent on self-destruction.
Please note: The play contains mature themes (explored in a satirical manner) and includes characters spontaneously bursting and blowing themselves up. Suitable for a mature audience 15 years and older. The performance includes simulated explosions, flashing lights and the use of a smoke machine.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
In the second week of the term the Year 10 Script and Performance class ventured into the city to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The students were in awe of the special effects, production elements and acting skills in this outstanding production.
After the show we were very lucky to be invited to a Q & A with five of the actors from the show, the Director and the Head of Hair and Make-up. The creatives joined us in the front rows of the empty theatre and answered all of our questions with such positivity and detail that it was easy to see why there were cast in a show of this scale. The opportunity to learn from professional theatre practitioners is very special, we look forward to seeing the Year 10 students apply their new insights to their own theatre work.
