Curriculum Care Packages

Two weeks ago, Mrs Collins had the idea to send out tangible numeracy resources to our students to help them achieve their outcomes in their Independent Practice session of classes. This evolved into the VCAL Leadership team (Mr Richardson, Mr Johnson-Turner, Mr Hackett and Mrs Collins) making orders from Big W and Woolworths, organising click and collects and deliveries, planning with the AMAZING staff in our office (Mel, Jenny, Steph & Nic) and sending out Curriculum Care Packages to all of the VCAL students across 10, 11 and 12.

After the VCAL team individually checked student details, the beautiful husband and wife team at Karingal Post Office even hand delivered 120 packages to the students! What a lovely gesture from our local posties!

These packs included an assortment of numeracy resources, party hats (for our final assembly), puzzles, chalk, lollies, chocolates, playing cards, dice, skipping ropes and baby photos of the staff.

Mr Hackett turned the packages into optional prize winning opportunities and now has to organise prizes for a bunch of students!

Thank you to the VCAL team for banding together so quickly, finding motivation to work at speed and making this happen at the most perfect time for our VCAL students.

We hope that these packages helped all of you feel thought of and cared about. We know that remote learning does not always work for learners such as you and we hope you got some use out of the resources.

Awards for Term 3

Special consideration (Senior students)

VCAA has given us information about Special Consideration for any VCAL student in their final year of schooling and how they can be supported to achieve their certificate this year. This is in relation to the interruptions caused by remote learning.

All year 12 students that qualify will be contacted in the final week of term to discuss their options. Any year 11 students that think they qualify are encouraged to get in touch ASAP to discuss this.

VCAL on Social Media

VCAL students were very active on social media over the remote learning term. Check out the images and have a look at the College Facebook site!

The final video from Caitlyn Goodman was a creative highlight. Check it out HERE.

Be a warrior, not a worrier

You should feel very proud of your efforts over this year so far. It’s been a very strange one! The skills you have developed will go a long way in your future careers.

If you need to get in touch over the holidays, please use your college email and get in touch. We will monitor them every couple of days.

For now, enjoy some time with yourself and the people around you! I’m sure you will all hear Mrs Collins if the Dees win the Grand Final!

Have a nice break - from all of the VCAL team.
