Sport Committee 

My name is Lucy Browne, and I am the Year 10 representative for the Mount Alvernia Sports Committee. Being a part of this committee has provided me with many opportunities including enhancing my public speaking skills, working collaboratively, and helping run school events. 

My involvement in the setup and production of school events including cross country, athletics carnival, and school assemblies allowed me to understand the process of planning and executing these events effectively. Through being involved in the sports committee this year, I have enjoyed being a part of a group where I am able to learn and collaborate with others and I would highly recommend applying for the position in 2022.  

I have loved being a part of the sport committee this year, it has allowed me to be involved in all aspects of sport not just playing but also helping organise events. Throughout the year the sport committee was involved with setting up the 3 big carnivals, swimming, cross country, and athletics. We spoke on our year level assemblies giving information about upcoming events and giving sporting results. As a committee we attended meetings to discuss upcoming events, and how we will implement more sport into the school. My favourite part about being in the sport committee this year was attending open day as we got to interact with new prospective students and hold fun games to encourage girls to participate in sport.  

Being a part of the sport committee is a great opportunity to become more involved in the college sporting program, to support and encourage peers to be involved, and to have fun while working with friends.

Nominations are open, head to student notices to find the nomination info, the applications will close at the end of this week. We will select two students for Y8, Y9 and Y10 and one student from Y11 and Y12 making an 8 strong committee.
