We interviewed Academic Captain, Samantha Maguire who has been in the FCIP since Grade 3 when she was attending Saint Anthony’s. She plays both the Clarinet and Piano and has experienced all the joys of the FCIP.

What is one of your favourite memories in FCIP?

Probably on the tour when I was in Year 10 being on the bus and singing all of our favourite songs.

Have you made many friends in the FCIP?

Yes, I actually have my best friends because of FCIP. The people I confide in the most are all in the FCIP and I know that I can always talk to them and vice versa.

What has been the best lesson that you have learnt from joining the FCIP?

That it requires constant determination to achieve what you want. For Example, you can’t just play a phrase once and expect it to be perfect every time from then you, you have to keep on practicing it to achieve what you want which I think translates well in every aspect of life.

What will you take away from the FCIP after you graduate?

That if I am organised and dedicate myself to one aspect of my life, such as music, this will impact my habits overall thus making my life better quality overall

What would you say to younger students that are considering joining?

Don’t give up when you think that its hard, there’s seniors, there’s teachers and you can rely on them because that’s what they’re there for.

What have you gained from joining the FCIP?

Multitude of friends, mentors, organisation skills and life lessons that I will definitely keep with me for a long time as they will help me through my future studies and life in general.

Is there anything that you would like to say to FCIP teachers before you graduate?

Thank you for sticking with me when I was a little kid and maybe a bit troublesome. Over the years you have provided an endless amount of encouragement that I needed to keep going until Year 12.

Is there anything you would like to say to the other students in the FCIP?

Thank you for being my second family. I know that I can rely on you, and I can talk to you as without you, I don’t know who I would be today.
