The NCSS Challenge is a programming competition open to all school students and teachers. The competition ran for five weeks, with St Mary's College students in Years 7 and 8 tackling real-world problems in a block-based and Python coding environment. Congratulations to all students who entered the competition!

Cara Watt, Rosie Dyson, Lucy Breen, Mia Brooks, Jorgia Eyles, Molly Verrier (Year 5), Sophia Agnos, Hayley Newsham-West, Meg Brewer, Imogen Croall, Abigail Creese, Lucy Pinelli, Jasmine Williams and Casey Bumford (Year 6), who represented St Mary's College in the Tournament of Minds state finals at Ogilvie High School on Saturday 4 September.

Both Year 5/6 teams put in six weeks' worth of work writing scrips, practising performances and creating props and costumes. They did an absolutely sterling job with their presentations and were wonderful ambassadors for the College.

Team 1 (Cara, Rosie, Sophia, Hayley, Meg, Lucy B and Imogen) achieved Honours in the Language Literature challenge for primary schools in Tasmania—a very impressive result!

Logan Skinner and Macey Hayes (Year 2), who battled it out at the Bridgewater PCYC Judo Open on Sunday 12 September, racking up a number of shiny gold medals between them.

Two-time gold medal winner at the event, Macey not only won five fights in her division but stepped up against an opponent in a higher division and won three times. What an admirable example of tenacity and courage. Well done to you both.

Molly O'Reilly and Matilda Lamb (Year 6), who were selected to represent St Mary's College, and their electorate area, in the Clark schools v Franklin schools netball games. The annual competition sees students from the Catholic primary schools in the southern Tasmanian region battle it out for a spot on top of the ladder.
