Berthe Mouchette French poetry competition - we have a winner!

Way back in April, a group of interested students in Years 4-6 started preparing for the 2021 Berthe Mouchette French poetry reciting competition, organised by the Alliance Française. They learnt their poems by heart and practised reciting them on their own at home, and with Madame Gammon and Madame Robson at school. This year the submissions were all online. 8,849 students took part across the State, including 26 students from CHPS.

Four students went forward to the final round, Amélie Duke in Year 4, Lochie Antoniazzi in Year 5 and Maisy Lester-Bryant and Vincent Hardy in Year 6. This was also online, but ‘live’ over Zoom in front of the judges.

On October 6th, the Alliançe Francaise informed us that, out of 582 participants at the Year 5 level, and against 76 finalists, Lochie Antoniazzi won First Place at the Year 5 level!
