Faith & Mission

Danny Franc

At times it is important to remind each other that being MSC is also being Catholic. Students and families often find it easier to identify as an MSC person than they do as a Catholic, but we cannot be the former without being the latter.

Jesus is central to this belief.   Who was / is Jesus?

Jesus is the Beloved Son, who was a preacher, a healer, a storyteller.

He shared meals, was a critic, and was crucified.

Jesus did what was right, even if others did not think it so.

We encourage our students to be more Jesus like in everything they do as they journey through Monivae and life, and encourage all our Monivae community to do the same.

As we welcome back our students for Term 4, and we get back to a more “normal” existence at school, the Faith and Mission programs for this term still have to be modified in order for our students to get the most out of the present time and the end of the school year.

Tins for St Vinnies feels like it has been going on forever, but as our students return, I ask that we do one last push of providing tins of canned food etc. These will be donated to our local St Vincent de Paul after the week ending Friday October 29.

Student reflection days are coming up for both the Year 7 and 8 cohort. These are important days in our faith formation, and both year levels have been impacted by Covid restrictions. This year we will be holding half day reflections at Monivae, where we provide the students with morning or afternoon tea. These days are the safest way we can run a program under the current restrictions.

The dates for the reflection days are:

Wed Oct 27 Year 8.1 and Year 8.2

Thu Oct 28 Year 8.3 and Year 8.4

Tue Nov 9 Year 7.1 and Year 7.2

Wed Nov 10 Year 7.3 and Year 7.4

More specific information will be forwarded to each homeroom closer to the date.

Upcoming events:

Fri Nov 19 – Year 12 Graduation Mass and awards ceremony

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be everywhere, loved

The Lady of the Sacred Heart, pray for us!
