Years 1/2

The Grade 1/2 students have settled well into the school year, getting to know new classmates, teachers and working well together. We have started our learning on ‘How I can be the best version of me’ where students have explored self-identity and have been introduced to the Zones of Regulation. 

 

The Zones of Regulation uses four colours (Zones) to help students identify how they are feeling and categorise that feeling to a colour. Students are encouraged to reflect on and share their feeling and which zone they are in each morning and afternoon. We have enjoyed listening to the reasons why we might be on the ‘yellow zone’, ‘blue zone’ and acknowledging that it is alright for us to have these different emotions. 

 

Over the next few weeks, Grade 1/2 students will learn different strategies to help manage their emotions based on the zone they are in and how they can assist others who are displaying various emotions.
