Welcome Back to school with a bang
Tuesday was quite certainly the best day of my career to date. Not only because it is another day in paradise but also a special occasion. Police Commissioner Karen Webb, the 23rd and first female Police Commissioner chose to return to Boorowa Central School to be inaugurated into her new role.
This was an extra special event as Commissioner Webb is an ex-student of our school and has many fond memories of her time here. A video of the ceremony can be viewed here:

Joining her for this special event were:
- Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of NSW & Mr Denis Wilson
- The Honourable Paul Toole MP, Deputy Premier of NSW, Minister for Regional NSW and Minister for Police
- Commissioner-designate, Karen Webb APM and Mr Marc Webb
- The Honourable Wendy Tuckerman, Minister for Local Government
- The Honourable Stephanie Cooke MP, Minister for Emergency Services
- Four Police Force Executives
- Six Emergency Service Commissioners
- Three school and community representatives including Hilltops Shire Council Mayor Margaret Roles
- 70 of the Police Commissioner's close family and friends
- POLAIR the Police Helicopter, The Police Band, Police personnel
- 180 students and 50 staff
A huge event as you can see!
The students and staff had the privilege of witnessing a very formal and heartfelt ceremony, climbing inside the helicopter before watching it take off, throwing balls to the Police sniffer dogs, listening to several songs played by the band and speaking to Her Excellency and the Police Commissioner.
It was a fabulous event enjoyed by all and most importantly, an invaluable message was received by all - students from Boorowa Central School can succeed in any endeavour they choose to dedicate themselves to. Mrs Karen Webb is our prime example.
Year 7s first day
Year 7s enjoyed a spectacular first day of high school with many of their lessons taken up by the Police Commissioner's event activities. However, it was back to normal school on Wednesday and it is pleasing to see how quickly they have settled into life in secondary school and how much they are enjoying it. Keep up the good work Year 7.
Kindergarten's First Day
Kindy enjoyed their first three days of school with Mrs Brougham thanks to a highly successful transition program. All students have settled in quickly and are learning about being a student at 'big school'. They will be coming home tired and emotional each day for the first few weeks as they adjust to the demands of school five days a week. These behaviours are completely normal and are catered for as best as possible in the classroom. Speaking of the classroom, I had the absolute pleasure of reading Kindy/Year 1 a story about 'why I love school' on Thursday morning. It was such a lovely time to share with these young people. The students gave me some great reasons why they love school.
Pedestrian crossing on Pudman Street
As you are all aware, the pedestrian crossing was removed when Pudman Street was resurfaced. The crossing will be moved to the West 20 meters and will encompass the entry to the Ag farm. The move will impact the number of parking spots available for pick up and drop off on the school side of Pudman Street. As a result, more parking will become available on the opposite of the road.
A reminder to all parents to please use the crossing with lovely Alex to ensure the safety of your children.
