Mr Butts' Announcements

Ash Wednesday
Today is Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of Lent. During Lent we are encouraged to reflect on our lives and acknowledge that we are all not perfect. Although we still can't gather together for mass, we all took part in smaller liturgies in the classrooms. Thank you to Mrs Hicks for preparing the liturgies.
Opening Liturgy
Our Opening Liturgy for 2022 was a beautiful celebration last Friday. Thank you to everyone involved, especially Mrs Hicks for organising the production. The final song was sung as the children went outside for morning recess which was a special touch.
2022 FIRE Carriers
Our 2022 Fire Carriers were announced today. Congratulations to Ruby Briggs, Sienna Dean, Aiden May, Ella Davkovski, Leshaya Baksh, Darcy Gladman, Audrey Davis, Briannah Love and Kobe Loughran.
FIRE stands for Friends Igniting Reconciliation Education and I look forward to those chosen playing a significant leadership role at St Mary's this year.
Sunday Baptism
Congratulations Ella Thomas, Shai Leigh Woodman and Zar Thomas on making their baptism last Sunday. It was a wonderful occasion for them and their family.

We currently have a high number of students with Gastro. Please keep your child at home for 48 hours after the last vomiting or diarrhoea episode. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Tennis at St Mary's
Mr Preston organised some coaches from Tennis Victoria to take our Gr 5/6 students for tennis lessons. I think we may have a future Australian Open winner on our hands!

Week 3 Merv Davis
Merv is a very popular student at St Mary's and other students enjoy his easy going, fun loving personality. He is doing very well in the classroom and is stepping out of his comfort zone and taking risks. Congratulations Merv!
Week 4 Zac Vigliaturo
Zac is an all round excellent student in and out of the classroom. He is extremely respectful and always uses his manners when speaking with others. Zac sets a great example to other students in the classroom and always produces work of a high standard. Well done Zac!
Week 5 Charlotte Ryan
Charlotte is a wonderful student who has a very kind and generous heart. I was amazed to hear that Charlotte and her mum recently donated their hair and raised money for Alopecia Australia. What a remarkable act of generosity! Congratulations Charlotte.
