Early Learning and Getting To Know Each Other in Rm 1

It has been so lovely to welcome and support the youngest learners in our school over the past few weeks. It really has been an ideal way for both our Reception and Year 1 students to learn about their new school environment and start their transition to school for the first time, or perhaps in to a new room with a different teacher. We have been very impressed at the bravery and confidence shown by our Receptions and the care and support offered by our Year 1’s. This year we have welcomed 41 Reception students and we are also looking forward to meeting 10 other new students across the school next week.

We have been so busy learning about safe places to play in the yard, meeting new teachers, getting to know each other and starting to tune in our listening and communication skills.

We have drawn pictures, listened to stories, made origami tigers and played maths games. We have visited the library, the art room, the hall for P.E., the STEM room for science and gone upstairs for Japanese. Here are some pictures we hope you will enjoy from our very first weeks.

こんにちは

Konnichiwa,

Welcome to Japanese for 2022 – The Year of the ‘Tora’ (tiger)

We usually like to begin the year celebrating the changing of the zodiac and I’m thrilled to see the students working online from home have done just that!

The students learnt about the story of ‘The Great Race’ and completed a quiz to test their knowledge. They then had to try and follow a directed drawing clip to draw their own ‘tora’ mascot for our ‘Year of the Tiger’ display in the classroom.

There have been some amazing pictures shared and I can’t wait to add them to our display.

Arigato to all those who shared! Here are just a few for you to see

さようなら

Sayonara,
