Parents and Friends Association

Parents & Friends at JWACS

Make a difference, make a friend, have a say.

The current P&F Committee would like to say a very big thank you to all volunteers, past, present and future. Your contributions help make John Wollaston a happy and inclusive school where all families can thrive and grow. Your current P&F Committee is made up of a small group of volunteer parents (with students from K-12) who endeavour to enrich the lives of all who attend John Wollaston. We aim to meet twice a term at night in the School library, but this can be flexible. The Committee works closely with the School Executive to ensure levy funds are spent in such a way as to enrich each family that attends each year. As a member, you have the golden opportunity to make a real difference at the School, to gain insight to the running of the School, to have a say and to build friendships with other parents.

The current Committee consists of the following positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and four committee members. All positions on the Committee become vacant each year and everyone is welcome to attend the AGM and nominate. Attendance at all meetings is not compulsory but encouraged. Information regarding activities and meetings of the P&F can be found on the welcome page in SEQTA and in the school newsletter, Wollaston’s Wrap.

Some of the activities undertaken by the P&F Committee over recent years include the annual Welcome Back Barbecue, Primary discos, School Fair, Bunnings Sausage Sizzle fundraisers, Bingo Night, Entertainment Book sales, volunteers’ breakfasts and other whole school and group events.

Look around the school and you will see examples of your P&F levy contribution in art murals in the Primary, Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden’s (K-12), covered walkway from the BDISC to Primary, outdoor table tennis tables, extensive library upgrades, adaptive furniture in specialist areas, an outdoor area in the LEC, sports equipment, art display boards and more.

Other projects supported and contributed to include The SEEDS Project, Running Club, Lego STEM Club, Head Prefects’ blazer embroidery, annual student awards/prize giving, 3d printer, Positive Education and development programs for students, various teaching aids, coding robots and learning tools.

We encourage everyone to consider participating in P&F activities, whether it be as a casual participant, volunteer for events or as a member of the P&F Committee.

If you are interested, please contact the P&F President, Sonja Reynolds on 0417 981 729, via the parents Facebook page or come along to our AGM in Term 1, 2022. We look forward to seeing you all during the year.

Yours sincerely

Sonja Reynolds

P&F President
