Year 7
Learning how to use combination locks, finding classrooms, remembering when to wear the sports uniform and classroom teachers' names. These are all the challenges our new Year 7 students (and staff!) have been dealt within the first week of schooling in 2022. I am confident that we are now at the top of that mountain and ready to take on new challenges ahead. One of these challenges is certainly the organisation and preparation of Year 7 Camp with students only being a part of our school community for three weeks before the first bus leaves for Merrimu. Information and permission forms have all been sent home and are due to be returned by Wednesday 16 February. If parents have any questions, please contact me directly so that these can be addressed. We would like every Year 7 student to have the opportunity to enjoy what our school camp has to offer.
Year 8
Our Year 8 students have hit the ground running and have done an excellent job in transitioning from Year 7. Different classes, different faces, different teachers and different lockers have all been a part of this transition. Your child may be in a different class this year, this is because classes were selected prioritising their choice of subjects including LOTE and the EIS program. This may mean that they are not with some friends from last year's class. Such a transition provides the opportunity for your child to form new friendships and undertake subjects of their choice to assist with their career pathways. On Wednesday 9 February Year 8 students had the opportunity to view and participate in an Alcohol Education Performance provided to the school by the stage company Gibber. All feedback from the students was that it was thoroughly enjoyed with lessons learnt along the way. It was fantastic to see so many students engaged with the actors, discussing scenarios and choices made by those characters throughout the performance. Well done team!

Japanese Teacher
Our new Year 7 students have made an excellent start in Japanese, learning about the three scripts and how to write their names. They then put this knowledge to work in a creative way, making personalised tags. Sugoi!
