VET UPDATE
2021 proved to be a very challenging year for our VET students and our VET team. However the extent of these challenges VET has persevered, and endeavored for competency. Students were still able to access their VET courses through TAFE and online platforms, and were still able to complete their mandatory Work placement requirements, thanks to the many local businesses accommodating these placements.
TAFE - Students will be recommencing on February the 16th and 17th 2022, students are to assemble in front of 'A Block' at TAFE campuses on their first day. I will be sending out more information prior to commencement, Students, please check your emails and compass announcements for additional information. Ms Ema Munro will now be the contact person for all things TAFE and SBAT related, as part of her role as Careers TAPs Person.
SBAT- School Based Apprenticeship/Traineeships- The following students were engaged in the SBAT pathway in 2021, working one day a week, and completing their courses as well as their usual school commitments. Well done to these students on maintaining their commitment throughout the year, and will be continuing their SBAT in 2022. Congratulations to Sienna Donadel, Christopher Foggiato, Josephine Iirlli, Madeline King and Dannielle Spencer for completing their SBAT this year. And thank you to the employers for offering these wonderful opportunities for our students. Over the last 4 years, as SBAT coordinator MCC has successfully completed 59 SBATs. These students will be my final group as SBAT coordinator- I wish them all the best.

VET @ MCC- Students continued to be engaged in fun, exciting and relevant activities in their VET studies of Hospitality, Business Services and Fitness. This year was definitely challenging for the VET team to deliver lessons during the year, with the course content being predominantly practical, the teachers and students were able to still complete their studies through clever online platforms and course delivery. Students were also able to complete their mandatory Work placement requirements, again thanks to the many local businesses accommodating these placements. We look forward to a year of no disruptions, and also to welcome a new course Construction to our VET department.
Thank you also to the VET teachers of 2021, Melinda Foschi, Andrew Keady, Adam Cavanagh and Jenna Taylor, who have tirelessly worked to deliver courses to industry standard. On another note, this year we are farewelling Jenna Taylor. Ms Taylor has been an invaluable VET teacher over the past year, always working above and beyond in teaching Hospitality, not to mention the additional catering events of Amanti Breakfasts, Carevan, Cabaret nights and many more. The students and staff will miss her, and send her best wishes on her new appointment. In 2022, We welcome Keta Arai, new Hospitality Teacher and James Buckland, new Construction teacher, both new to the VET team, Melinda Foschi, Andrew Keady, Adam Cavanagh will be continuing their amazing instruction as VET teachers.
