Principal's Message

Dear Parents, students and the wider community,

Week 2 has now come and gone. Ms Sonya Kilkenny, local Member for Carrum, officially opened our refurbished building with the architects, builders, MACS staff, local principals, parents, students and staff all enjoying the prestigious moment. These are rare occasions in the life of schools to create what seems like absolutely new facilities for the current and future students of St Anne's to learn and grow together inside and outside the buildings. That said, if our enrolment continues to climb within a few years we may need to have additional classrooms at the other end of the school. This has been included in our site Masterplan created in 2019.

School photos were held today. Thank you for ensuring your children were dressed to impress.  Please ensure your children are in full winter school uniform at latest by Monday 10th May.

Today we also farewell  Justine Le Griffon  who is commencing her maternity leave. It doesn't seem that long ago she started here in 2015 as a Graduate Teacher and very soon she will be a mum to two beautiful kids!!!! I am sure you will join me in wishing Justine all the very best for the next stage of her life and we look forward to seeing her again in the future.

Looking forward to next week on Monday our Foundation students are off to the Zoo as part of their inquiry learning. I know Mrs Thomas is probably more excited to be going than the Preps. The Year 3-6 will have the 'Saints in Schools' program on Monday as well. I believe this is based around leadership and making the most of your abilities.

Next Tuesday our wonderful Parents and Friends committee will be holding the annual Mothers Day Stall. It will be held in the Italian Room and students will be able to purchase something 'very special' for their mums. Next Thursday is our annual Mothers' Day Big Morning Tea and Mrs Brooking is working hard on making this a beautiful occasion for all who can attend.

Next Friday is our House Cross Country. Speaking with Mrs Ary today she has let me know that this will be on-site and more information will be provided shortly to students.

This week in the Gospel Jesus talks about pruning the vines and tending the ground so the vines will bear fruit. This sense of preparing the ground and the vines so they bear fruit in our school could be seen as preparing the environment so our students will thrive through the spirit at work. In making someone feel ‘at home’, secure and accepted we create a sense of belonging and this is something I see strongly in our school community and something staff regularly work with our students on.

Wishing everyone a great weekend. God Bless

Rod Shaw

Principal
