Work in Progress Concert

The GSSC Music Department is putting on our first concert on Monday 24th May at Westside at 6pm. 

The Work in Progress Concert will feature all of our bands and ensembles, except for our Training Band, who will have their Debut Concert later in the term. 

After a year of being unable to rehearse in groups, the students have been steadily practicing, getting back into the hang of performing with others. This is a free concert.

Training Band

On Thursday 22nd April, our new beginner students started Training Band rehearsals. These take place every Thursday after school until 4.30pm, at McGuire. As mentioned above, we will be holding a Debut Concert later in the term to show the rapid progress that they have made. More information regarding this will be sent home soon.

NEVR Activities

There are also a couple of exciting opportunities for our music students coming up which are being provided by the NEVR (North East Victoria Region) Instrument Music department. The first is a Band/Choir day on Tuesday June 8, where students travel to Benalla to workshop some pieces of music with students from other NEVR schools and each ensemble then performs for each other at the end of the day. There is no cost for the day and buses will be provided to get students to and from the event.

The second event is the NEVR Music Camp in Beechworth which will take place from Sunday September 5th to Monday September 7th, 2021. This is a fun three days of music rehearsals and activities, with a concert for families to finish off the camp. Bookings are open now and can be accessed online here
