Deputy Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Dear Parents and Carers,

The past 10 weeks have been filled with many learning opportunities, challenges, time to reflect and renew and opportunities to celebrate the wonderful school and community that we are.  With restrictions still in place,  we have tried to share as much as possible via various social media platforms, class emails, newsletters, Seesaw and much more.  We hope you have enjoyed seeing our school in action via these platforms.

Easter at St James

This week all students participated in Holy week liturgies.  It was so nice to see the community gather once again and join us in prayer.

This morning the classes in the junior school discovered that over night a special guest had come into their classrooms and left behind footprints, fur and chocolate easter eggs.  One of the students in Prep thought it may have been the Easter Bunny and promptly asked Ange to check the security footage.  To our surprise, look what we found!  You will need to take a very close look!

The Annual Easter Raffle was held today at school.  There were lots of smiles, cheering and such a positive vibe in the yard.  Thank you to all families who donated prizes and purchased tickets.  Thanks also to the PA and their team of helpers for wrapping all of the raffle prizes.

As we commence next term, it will be time to transition in Winter Uniforms.  It is optional for the students to begin wearing their winter uniform from the beginning of term 2. All students will need to be wearing their full School Winter Uniform by Week 3 - Monday 3rd May.   As we are a sunsmart school, students will need to wear their hats depending on the UV rating.  Sunsmart Australia suggests wearing a hat when the UV rating is 3 and above.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all families a safe and Happy Easter.

Please stay safe and healthy during the School Holidays.  We look forward to welcoming all students and families back next term.

Carmelina Corio (Deputy Principal)

COVID-19 Safety at School

At St James we have put a number of strategies in place to reduce the risk of transmission.  No one strategy is 100% effective.

Here are just some of the ways we are doing to keep our Students, School community and Staff safe and well.

In light of current restrictions and inline with our School COVID Safety we ask that you respect and follow the following guidelines.

Self Isolating during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Can we kindly ask that if you or your family are required to self isolate during these times, that you inform the school via info@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au so that we can offer any assistance possible.

Thank you!

 Social Distancing

Thank you to all parents and carers who are helping the community to stay safe and healthy by keeping 1.5m apart at drop off and pick up times.

Although physical distancing will not apply to students in class, it does still apply to staff and parents. Therefore we ask that you respect our requests to minimise contact and continue with social distancing during drop off and pick ups, adults will also need to adhere to wearing masks when in public places including drop off and pick up.
