Mr Forrest

Primary School Children Challenge

Mr Lockhart & Mr Forrest have issued a challenge to the children in the Primary area of Wedderburn College to read 3000 nights before the end of term.   Reading sessions have to be signed by a parent to count and extra bonus reading sessions will be awarded over weekends.   If the students are successful Mr Forrest has to dress up as a princess and Mr Lockhart as a fairy for the day and they have to cook pancakes for the students.  Stay tuned and start reading as the challenge is accepted.

Spots Still Available for Music

Ms Jenny Wagstaff is now in her third week of teaching instrumental music at Wedderburn College.  Secondary students will have the opportunity to have a period of music each week in years 7 - 10.  All students who are interested in learning an instrument will be able to apply to have small group instrumental music lessons weekly as well. Please contact the office if you would like an expression of interest form or see Ms Wagstaff on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. There are still a few spaces available for lessons if you would like to learn an instrument. Students will also have a chance to learn music during a lunchtime group session.

Burn Bank - Going Crazy

We all know the times to avoid the supermarket when it is far too busy.  Well, if you want to see busy, try shopping at the Burn Bank of a Friday!

It is fantastic to see so many students invested in learning about our school values of Respect, Responsibility & Resilience and being rewarded for using the key skills that they are taught.   It was also great to see students from the one family work together to collaborate and combine their Burn Bucks to take home a computer, the most expensive item in the Burn Bank.   A special mention to Lily Finch who helped get them over the line.

Out & About - Calder Sports

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend the Calder Sports at Boort last week. Well done to the staff and students who participated and organised the day. We couldn't have had better weather and, more importantly, the students enjoyed themselves.  It was great to see so many students from the district playing four sports and mixing with students from other schools.

ANZAC Day Services

A huge thanks must go to Roger Patterson and his team at the Wedderburn RSL for allowing Wedderburn College to be part of the Dawn Service at Wedderburn and the mid-morning service at Korong Vale.   Roger & Geoff Maxwell also attended our service at the school on the Friday before ANZAC Day.  Well done to the school leaders and Year 4/5 and 5/6 classrooms who participated by reading poetry at all of these events. Congratulations to Amelia & Aidan for winning the Year 5/6 ANZAC poster competition. Thanks to all students and staff who participated in these important events and took the time out to pause and remember all the brave men and women who have participated in conflicts around the world while representing Australia.
