Teaching & Learning 4S

 

This term, Grade 4S are getting to explore Cooking in our Food Science Room with Al. 

Last week, we began with making Cheesy Chutz – Cheesy Toasted Sandwiches with grated carrot, tomato chutney and lots of melting cheese. 

Everyone had a turn at grating carrot, buttering their bread and cooking their sandwiches so that they were golden.  Even though many of the class had never eaten some of the ingredients before, there were a lot of appreciative comments about the food and a willingness to try something new. 

Along with cooking, students learnt about nutrition and kitchen safety, and everyone even participated in the clean up!  Everyone is looking forward to next week’s lesson – pancakes and ice-cream!
