Junior Class - Mrs Creek

We have had fun with our shared story this week  called ‘The Naughty Sheep’, it has the same characters in it from last week’s story.  The new character is a naughty sheep called Woolly.  He is bored eating grass and escapes into the garden.  And you can probably guess what he does.  Yes, he begins eating Mrs Boot’s flowers!  It has a surprise ending, which is why Woolly gets called a naughty, clever sheep.

Every day we all get to read, write and think about mathematical concepts.  Year 1 students are working with money and navigating directions of left and right.  The song ‘Hokey Pokey’ has assisted all students to learn their left from their right.

May I state how delightful it is to see the class supporting each other and the teacher each and every day.   Well done F-1s.

Middle Class - Miss Williams

This week the Middles have had a wonderful week of writing persuasive texts.  We have been making lots of arguments and disagreeing and agreeing with each other on lots of different topics.  In reading we have had a few different things to read this week.  We started off the week reading about ANZAC Day and learning some facts about it.  We have also been reading a persuasive text which is an advertisement giving all the reasons as to why you should buy Snako miracle snake oil.  But none of us have been convinced to buy it as it is made for snakes!  In maths we have powered through our work and modules this week. On two different days the Year 3s have done two different lessons on each of those days.  They have been learning about multiples of 5, 10 and 2 and they are pretty good at them.  While the Year 2s have been learning about money and adding coins together.

Senior Class - Miss Walker

This week in the senior room we have been exploring a persuasive blog written from the point of view of a possum.  We heard about the possum's struggles to navigate houses, fences and backyards with dogs and how people (like us!) get bad advice on how to trap or relocate them once they’ve found sanctuary in house or shed roofs.  The blog ended with the possum pleading for help to find a home in a nest box which can be put in a tree.

In writing, we have continued work on persuasive texts.  We have been learning about high and low modality words which is basically how certain you are about something, and is a lot like chance.  Modality words are useful when writing persuasive texts because they can change the tone of your writing.

In maths, all of our groups have been working on different concepts this week including subtracting decimals, multiplication and subtraction.

For integrated studies, we went on a word hunt and found lots of words that we will become more familiar with over the course of the unit while spending time outside in the sunshine.

Little Joey

This week we continue to acknowledge the significant role of the "Brown Joeys" in the establishment of St Patrick's School, and recognised Isabella and Doh Wah Htoo with Little Joey awards.  Our Little Joeys receive a certificate, sticker and a voucher/goods donated by a local business.  This week's vouchers were donated by Wimmera Bakery and Cambrelle's.  We are very grateful for the contributions from our local businesses.
