Parent Teacher Conferences
On Tuesday 16 and Thursday 18 March we held our Parent Teacher Conferences. These meetings were a great chance for the teachers to meet with parents and discuss how their child has transitioned and settled into their new classroom environment. Teachers and students from Year 4 to Year 6, together with their parents, had the opportunity to set some goals and strategies for the upcoming school year.
If for some reason you could not attend a conference, please email your child’s class teacher to make a time that is mutually convenient.
On a personal note it was so nice to meet so many parents over the two nights not only from the Year 4 class but also from other year levels. I have always found these types of meetings a great opportunity for teachers and parents to form an initial relationship which can be built upon as the year progresses. Working together as a team is the most beneficial outcome for the child, so I do remind you that if any concerns arise at any stage throughout the year that you make contact with your child’s class teacher to discuss these issues.
NAPLAN 2021
Students from Years 3 and 5 will be participating in the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) 2021 in early May.
Students from these year levels will be participating in some practice tests during the final two weeks of term.
I do stress that NAPLAN is just one test on one day and it is important that we make these experiences as stress free for our students as possible.
Year 5 Camp
I was lucky enough to visit our Year 5 students on the Thursday of their camp. I met them at the Port Arthur Historic Site and then joined them for dinner. The girls welcomed me with lots of excitement and were eager to share all their learnings from their day at the Site. The feedback received from The Port Arthur Historic Site Educational Team was that the girls were exceptional on their visit - they were very respectful as they made their way around the site, listened attentively and showed great understanding of the content that was being discussed.
A very big THANK YOU goes to their teachers Mrs Anna Cazaly, Ms Melanie Sluyters and Mr Damien Lowe who organised such an engaging camp for the students.
Circle of Life
Our Years 5 and 6 students are invited to participate in a Parents and Caregiver Evening on Tuesday 4 May starting at 6pm in the O'Brien Resource Centre (College Library).
Monique Hall who is a Family Life, Relationships and Sexuality Educator, will lead the program on the night. Monique has over twenty years of teaching experience in Catholic schools in the Early Years, Primary, Secondary and in adult education.
Using group presentations, personal stories, digital resources, creative activities, and small group discussions, ‘Circle of Life’ engages young people in responding to the challenges of growing up and making healthy decisions for themselves and others.
Parents and carers will receive further details via EdSmart correspondence. If you have any questions or concerns please make contact.
