IDAHOBIT May 17

At Beaumaris Secondary College, we are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all our students, including LGBTQIA+ students. We aim to equip our students to lead healthy and productive lives, to not only achieve academically but also to be happy, healthy and resilient.

On May 17 each year, the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ discrimination (IDAHOBIT) marks a day for people all over Australia to stand against discrimination and show support for our LGBTQIA+ friends, colleagues and families.

The Safe Schools program has been established to ensure schools are safe places for all students, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual (LGBTQIA) students, and are free of discrimination. As a Safe School we can ensure we are doing everything possible in providing a welcoming and inclusive school experience for all students, their families, and staff.

This includes the student group Diversity, which welcomes students who value and celebrate diversity in all forms, and is dedicated to education, awareness and support within the school community for a variety of social issues.
