Tennis Regionals

Tennis Regionals

On Friday the 30th of April, the Year 9/10 boys tennis team went to Dendy Park Tennis Club to compete in regionals and for the chance to play in the state finals. After a dominant performance in division we wanted to repeat our strong run. Again, the schools were split into two pools and the top two schools from each would play off for the win and the spot in state.

In our pool, Melbourne High (prior regional champions) appeared to be the toughest competition. However, we still recorded a 5-1 win over them. After such a convincing win in our pool, confidence was high and there was belief we could go through to state. Only a strong Frankston High School team stood in the way.

Unfortunately we didn’t play our best tennis when required the most and went down 1-5. Obviously, we were all disappointed after looking so strong, and it was the end of our run to make state. Overall it was a great day; we just fell short of going through. The tennis was amazing and was plenty of fun. We win or we learn so next year is another shot to make state. Thanks to Mr. Slocum for taking us and to Mr. Crameri and Ms. Durham for organising the day.
