Open Day – COVID Considerations

Staff are well into the processes of preparing for Open Day which is scheduled for 29 May. As always we expect a big crowd and it is a great day where the College is opento the community. Because of COVID there are a number of adjustments to our normal processes to ensure we keep visitors, staff and students safe. We trust that this will not limit your enjoyment of the Open Day but ask that you are patient and understanding of restrictions in place. These adjustments include:

  • Registering to attend Open Day on Eventbrite- click on this link and register:

https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/2021-open-day-wa-college-of-agriculture-harvey-tickets-151765188765?aff=ebdssbeac

  • Select how many tickets you want to grab and click register.

Note: you will need to enter all the individuals details and you will be the contact.

An email will be sent to you with the ticket attached in PDF format. You can either print it out or the College will scan the ticket on your phone at the entry gate.

Please follow the COVID practices that we must comply with, NO TICKET, NO ENTRY

  • Modified catering to minimise food handling. There will be some different food options available for purchase, however this year there will be no buffet.
  • Please remember to use the provided hand sanitising stations throughout the College.
  • Visitors are expected to abide by the current social distancing rules.

Please be considerate that our traditional Open Day will be running a little differently this year due to our current climate.

Open Day – Student Allocations

I am currently endeavouring to place all the students on Open Day in their area of greatest interest. As you can appreciate it is a difficult exercise to get all the placements correct as the College has a broad range of needs and finite places in the popular sections.

The criteria is seniority first or a specific skills set (horse riding, licensed motorbike rider, shearer) which may inevitably leave some of our younger students disappointed. Their opportunity will come next time around and they should be encouraged to enjoy representing the College in whatever capacity is presented to them. If there are any legitimate concerns, please email me.

Country Week – students not attending

As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, Year 11 and 12 students not attending Country Week have the opportunity to complete a Work Placement the same week. I hope those students interested in participating in WPL are progressing in finding a suitable placement. Completed forms must be returned by Friday May 14or a placement will not be organised.

Harvey Recreation Centre Performances

Yuck Circus - Wednesday May 26th at 7pm

One Punch Wonder - Tuesday June 22nd at 7pm

Following on from last week’s details, we have been allocated 30 tickets @$10 each. The students will be need to register their intent and place their name on the list at the front office. I have advertised this opportunity today to the students with the focus being to open their eyes to different entertainment experiences with positive themes.
