Room 6

This term Room 6 has been learning about multiculturalism and cultural diversity. Students have been exploring the interconnection between places, events and people. They have shared how they as individuals, their communities as well as the physical environments are diverse and global.

As a class we created posters for The Refugee Student Poster Awards and Exhibition Project that will be hosted by the Australian Migrant Resource Centre to celebrate Refugee Week (20-26 June).

Students created their posters focusing on how their artwork relates to their culture. They looked at how they can raise an awareness about issues affecting refugees and highlight their valuable contributions to Australia.

Students explored the different materials that are used to make art work and they considered the different audiences for their artwork.

Here are some photos of our amazing posters that we hope will be showcased as finalists in the exhibition.

Swimming and Aquatics

As part of Health and Physical Education, the year five students attended a week of Water Safety at the Payneham swimming centre. The year sixes and sevens also attended a day at West lakes Aquatics.

These activities were fun and created an opportunity for students to learn skills and gain knowledge about safety by participating in physical activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, sailing and surfing. They learnt about active choices that can play a role in health, safety and wellbeing.

Students gained an understanding of movement by monitoring their body responses in the different water activities.

Here are some photos of us.
