Principal's Report
INFORMATION SESSIONS FOR PRESCHOOL FAMILIES
Families from our preschool attended an information session in the PAC on Tuesday and Wednesday last week.
Melanie (Preschool Director) presented information about what literacy and numeracy looks like in the preschool setting and how families can support their children to learn at home.
Both the school and preschool use the Bookmaking approach to developing children and students as writers.
Marie Sapio presented information, including photos and video clips of what Bookmaking looks like in the school setting and how it builds on naturally from what happens in the preschool.
Carly Price talked about the continued importance of play in the foundation years of school and demonstrated how students learn important basic concepts of reading, phonics and maths through a planned and structured play based approach across the curriculum.
REBUILDINGUPDATE
I am thrilled to be able to announce that the rebuild of the fire damaged areas of our school will begin this year.
Plans have been approved and we are all excited about the new fresh look our school will have.
The existing admin area will be demolished and a new modern admin, staffroom, office spaces, Interoception and Therapy rooms will take its place.
Covered walkways will go from East to West wings and from the front of the school to the Northern court area. This will enable easy access to all areas of the school.
Demolition is due to begin in the July holidays.
FAMILY INTERVIEWS
I encourage all families to take the opportunity to meet with teachers in week 1 or 2 next term. These meetings are designed to promote discussions about how your child is progressing with her/his learning and what additional support / extension is available.
We all want each and every student at Hampstead PS to be the best learner they can be. This has the best chance of happening if parents /carers and teachers all work together.
Bookings can be made online at:
www.schoolinterviews.com.au and enter the code j9835
Please contact your child’s teacher if you need support to book a time.
Families of students who have any kind of individual plan:
· One Plan
· Ready to Learn Plan
· Attendance Plan
Will be required to attend a meeting.
On behalf of the staff at Hampstead Primary School I wish you all a happy and safe two weeks with your children.
We look forward to seeing you all back again on April 27th for a wonderful second term of learning.
Kind regards,
Joy
