Canteen

Greetings from the Canteen

In product news, the Canteen Committee has recently reviewed one of the most popular menu items, the jelly pencils, and has made the decision to reduce the number a student can purchase a day from 10 to 5.  There are a number of reasons behind this including the sugar content, difficulty obtaining stock and the wrappers being dropped in the yard.  It has also been decided that at the end of week 6 the Canteen will stop selling these items, but only for the colder months, to see how the litter situation improves.

In other product news, the Canteen has introduced two new low-priced items for students to enjoy instead of the jelly pencils.  On offer is a chocolate brownie and an oat biscuit, both items are made in the Canteen with fresh ingredients.   Cooking on site means that there is more control as to what is in them and the brownie contains not one but two hidden ingredients to boost its nutritional value.

The oat biscuits are only $0.20 each and the chocolate brownie $0.40 each and are now listed on the QKR app for purchase.

Lastly, in our efforts to be a more environmentally friendly Canteen, the baked potatoes are now being served in a biocane clam shell which is certified home compostable and carbon neutral.

Warm regards,
