Performing Arts Update

'Mindfulness at St Anthony’s is built into every day. It may take the form of mindful prayer, mindful meditation, mindful listening, mindful colouring, mindful movement or mindful brain breaks. Children learn to self regulate, to calm, to practise gratitude and to get ready to learn through mindful moments within their day. All learning spaces have mindful corners or mindful spaces for all to access when needed.'

Moana Update

Dear St Anthony’s Families,

Lockdowns will not keep us down! During this latest lockdown, students have been learning about Disney, musicals and Moana and should be coming back to school having sung and danced at home, ready to start rehearsing in person.

I can’t wait to see the children back in the Performing Arts room and start working with them to make this superb musical come to life the way we always do at St Anthony’s.

We are considering Covid safe ways of putting on a show and will keep you all updated on the latest developments as they arise.

The Year 5/6’s have completed their auditions in Term Two with the Audition Panel and will be meeting with me over the next two weeks of term to determine who will be in the main cast as well as the technical and backstage crew and ensemble groups. This is the most exciting part of the process as our 5/6’s have many opportunities to shine. No one misses out.

All students who are selected to be part of the main cast will be taking home a contract of expectations as well as their very valuable official script with the expectation that any student in the cast will read their script several times and start to learn their lines so when we come back in Term Three we are in a good position to start the rehearsals! So GOOD LUCK to all the 5/6 children who auditioned! If students don’t get into the main cast or the technical/backstage role they hoped for, I am really very sorry, these decisions are always hard and I rely on my knowledge of our students and the support of the class teachers to make these decisions.

Costume letters will be distributed before the holidays to give everyone time to shop/make and our very popular t shirts are going to be available for order very soon too.

Stay tuned!
