Keeping your children safe online

Please be aware of what your children are doing online. In particular on social media. Instagram accounts are for children 13 and over. If you allow your child to have an Instagram account then you need to state in their profile that they are under 13 years of age and that their account is managed by a parent.  In the world of memes, children post highly inappropriate  and derogatory memes often about other people, sometimes with the belief that the memes are funny. Please actively monitor all social media accounts and know what your children's online presence looks like.

"Instagram requires everyone to be at least 13 years old before they can create an account. In some jurisdictions, this age limit may be higher. Accounts that represent someone under the age of 13 must clearly  state in the account's bio that the account is managed by a parent or manager. If your child is younger than 13 and has an account that isn't managed by you or a manager, you can show them how to delete their account."

If you have not yet submitted your enrolment form, please do so by the end of next week as places are filing up quite quickly. MACS - Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools  - Update

A lot of work is being undertaken by the leadership team as we prepare to introduce brand new MACS policies into our school. Many of the new policies are very similar to our current policies and some even use components of our current policies within them.  The Policies fall under 5 categories;

  1. Care, safety and wellbeing of students
  2. Child safety
  3. Complaints handling
  4. Employment
  5. Enrolment
  6. Infrastructure
  7. Advisory Council

There are approximately 90 in total that sit under these categories, so as you can imagine, getting them personalised for us and for our school is a big process. New policies will take the place of all current policies on the school website after July 31st. All Catholic school in the archdiocese of Melbourne are required to have these policies in place by July 31st. As our school as been under review and was required to use all current policies in place for the process, we now begin the work of preparing all policies.

You can find all the information you need and see the draft policies that will govern our schools here.

Headlice Alert

Please be advised that there are still headlice around.  This is also a reminder that it is our school policy that hair longer that shoulder length needs to be tied up for both female and male students.

Tutoring Program 2021

Our 2021 tutoring program continues to provide a little extra boost to as many of our students as possible. With weekly data conversations guiding staff planning and regular Intervention team meetings enabling us to look at data, current needs and where to next, we are able to create many opportunities for our students. Mrs. Dimity Hemingway, Mrs. Rania Ibrahim, Mrs. Mary Lenko and Mrs. Jan Nagel are leading the great work in small group and individual targeted instruction, catch up and enrichment, and they are doing an outstanding job. We will continue to provide support for as many students as possible until the end of term 3 when tutor funding runs until. Of course, in term 4 support programs will still be running.
