Music Mr G

This week in music students have been experimenting with different aspects of music by playing, learning and interacting with instruments and an array of different music technologies. The 4/5/6 students have been focusing on melody and learning how to identify and read music, focusing on pitch and rhythm. Learning through engaging with online music software, where they are able to interact and play with different aspects of music. Isolating instruments and voices in order to understand how music intertwines and blends together to create a unified sound. Students are also beginning preparation for their class performances where they will play their learnt melodies in small groups.

Students from grades 2/3 have been focusing on chords and harmony. Understanding the basic building blocks of music, and how different sounds can be associated with different feelings and memories. Students are looking at popular music and learning how to play basic major and minor chords.

This week the Preps and Year 1 students have been focusing on rhythm and movement learning how to feel and move in time and developing their internal pulse. Students have looked at rhythm grids, learning how to read and identify them so that they can build their musical language, develop their connection and understanding of musical language and music notation.
