Reconciliation Week

Reconciliation Week  fittingly combines with our Catholic Education Week.

The 2021 National Reconciliation Week theme,

More than a word -  Reconciliation takes action

urges the reconciliation movement towards braver and more impactful action.

While we see greater support for reconciliation from the Australian people than ever before, we must be more determined than ever if we are to achieve the goals of the movement — a just, equitable, reconciled Australia. Moving towards a braver reconciliation requires a vision for what a just equitable and reconciled Australia looks like.

This Friday 28th May 2021, we will be conducting a Reconciliation Liturgy recognising this important event. Unfortunately, due to the recent COVID-19 restrictions that come into effect today at 6pm we can no longer invite parents to this celebration as we had initially planned. Instead the students will take part in a liturgy and parents will need to view the sea of hands when they arrive for pick up on Friday afternoon.

The first Sea of Hands was held on the 12 October 1997, in front of Parliament House, Canberra.

Planting a Sea of Hands is an act of recognition – of identities, cultures and history.

The prayer below is one that we will share during the liturgy. You may want to pray this at home with the family.

Working in partnership.
