Magis report 

This week the fourth round of the Magis House Academic Challenges has been completed with Years 7 to 10 finished and just Years 11 and 12 to be held this coming Wednesday. Numbers of competitors have again been excellent. Congratulations to all Houses.  Full results will be in next week’s newsletter.

This coming week we have the Creative Edge Seminar Breakfast with WA Director Mrs Kathy Boyatzsis on Thursday, 10 June 2021, whilst there has been an excellent response to the exciting FAMELAB competition with eight Year 9 students competing in the John XXIII grand final on 30 June, the winner automatically qualifying for the WA final at the Heath Ledger Theatre next term.

On Friday 25 June in periods 5 and 6 the famous Bell Shakespeare company will perform in the Roncalli Hall. This is for Year 7 and 8 Magis students plus any other Year 7 or 8 students who have an enthusiasm for english, literature or drama. Nominations will be finalised this coming week.

Also coming up soon is the Year 7 Magis Personal Project opening on Tuesday 22 June in the Roncalli Hall at 7:30am. All parents and friends are invited to the opening, and the projects will remain on display until the end of lunchtime.

Best wishes to Caitlin Green and Oscar Hegge, our two entrants in the Catholic Education Office’s Speak for Faith Public Speaking Competition this Saturday. Caitlin and Oscar were winners and runners-up in the John XXIII Public Speaking Competition this year.

Good luck to all debaters for Tuesday night’s WADL Round 5 at Christ Church Grammar School. Several teams have chances of winning their division depending on results on Tuesday evening. Good luck to all debaters. The Round 5 instructions are attached below.

Finally, next Friday the 2021 Magis Mass will be held  in the John XXIII Chapel at 8:00am.  All Magis students are expected to attend, and parents are warmly invited to attend.
