Principal's Update

Paul Clohesy

Dear families,

I spent last Thursday and Friday in Ballarat attending the Faith in the Future: Pastor and Principal Forum. The forum was facilitated by Fr David Ranson from the Broken Bay Diocese in Sydney.

The focus of the two days was exploring ways to ensure a strong connection remained between the school and parish, particularly in light of our school’s governance structure moving from the parish to DOBCEL.

Despite the change in governance, St Mary’s Parish and Fr Michael continue to be a vital part of our school community and we will continue to work hard at keeping our links as close as possible.

Catholic Education Recognition

Catholic Education Ballarat held their annual service and leadership awards dinner in Ballarat last Friday evening. Three Trinity College staff members; Leesa Sharkey, Caroline Grist and Graeme Stewart were acknowledged for providing 30 years of outstanding service to Catholic Education.

In addition, Cheryl Pefanis was presented with a Fullness of Life Leadership Award for her outstanding care of our community during 2020.

On behalf of our entire community, I would like to congratulate all of these staff members on their achievements.

On Wednesday, May 5 I was invited to Colac Area Health to attend a presentation being made to Tilly Kerr of Year 11.

Tilly was asked by Colac Area Health to design the images to accompany their newly developed values.

Tilly worked tirelessly over the Term 1 holidays to complete this task and did it to such a high standard that the design has now been fully adopted and has become an integral part of all Colac Area Health’s marketing and internal publications.

Tilly was presented with an award for her work and on behalf of the school I wanted to publicly congratulate her on this outstanding achievement.

Tilly’s achievement highlights the extraordinary talent students at Trinity College have in many different areas.

As a school we are very proud of what our students are able to achieve both in and out of the school setting and I am always very excited about sharing student success with our entire school community through the newsletter.

Please don’t hesitate to let me know if your child has been making contributions in any area outside the school so we can celebrate this in our school community.

As is always the case, there has been lots happening at Trinity College over the last fortnight. Our Year 7 and 9 students survived their NAPLAN tests last week and I would like to congratulate them on the effort they applied to the tests.

Inaugural Event a Success

Last week we also conducted our first Mother/Significant female & son/daughter evening. I am pleased to report that the event was a huge success and I would like to thank all of the families that took part.

I also want to recognize all of the students and staff who volunteered to be part of the event by leading groups or helping in any other way.

Last week also saw the school cross country take place. Congratulations to all the students who ran the 5km course or at least part of it.

This week we have our Year 8 students attending camp at Sunny Stone near Bacchus Marsh. We are hoping the weather will be kind to them as they complete all of their camp activities.

As the camp is conducted in groups, students not on camp spend a day at school cooking meals for those less fortunate. This community service is an important part of the week and enables us to donate hundreds of meals to individuals and families doing it tough through St Vinnies.
