Principal's Report
Dear Families,
Term 2 certainly has been full of surprises! I need to apologise for the lateness of this newsletter. As the Principal I was the last person to complete an article and the sudden "circuit breaker" lockdown and return to remote learning resulted in my focus shifting onto other pressing items only to realise I had yet to complete my newsletter report. "Focus shifting" sort of sums how we are being required to constantly display flexibility; re-establish routines while maintaining a positive attitudes. I was so relieved that the students had the opportunity to attend Year 8 Camp; engage in listening to guest speakers; play interschool sport; participate in the Elevate Study skills program and prepare food for the Whittlesea Food Collective. I am hopeful with the response of so many Victorians that the students will soon be back to school and to a full curriculum program.
Although I do not live locally I am very aware of the work and Covid stress many of our local families are experiencing. We all feel empathy and recognise how many countries in the world are struggling with the extensive effects of the pandemic; however, across the northern suburbs many businesses and families have too been effected. Our role is to continue to support your children to engage with learning and help them to continue to develop their emotional and social skills despite what might be occurring around them or in the media. Just this term the range of educational and enjoyable opportunities that students at Edgars Creek have been involved in are rich and rewarding. I am very proud of our students as they represent the College in Sport; demonstrate leadership at the primary school; when they listen to guest speakers; stay after school to improve their Maths skills; and achieve outstanding results in Spanish in EducationPerfect. These are just a few examples of the many achievements to be proud of!
Sports Gym - Nearly there!!
Many of the students have had the opportunity to walk inside the new sports gym and experience the outdoor circuit equipment. We are waiting for the final paperwork to be signed off so that we can actually use it!!
Thank you for your support and enjoy the rest of the newsletter.
