Division Cross Country, Bundoora Park

On Wednesday 26th May, five of our students from St Joseph the Worker represented our school and Keon Park District at the Division Cross Country meet at Bundoora Park: Rueben, Julian, Carlos, Daniella and Olivia.

Despite the torrential rain and polar winds the day and night leading into the meet, the team reported a dry track, but a thickly grassed and hilly course, which made it a hard race to run!

“The level of competition was much harder than the race before”, said our students when asked what it felt like to be competing at Division level.  “You could tell that some of these competitors had been training for MONTHS, which is why they were so strong and fast!”  All of our students gave their best effort and had put in the training, which is all you can do at any level of competition.

Of the St Joseph the Worker Team, Daniella and Rueben were very successful, securing a spot to race at the Regional Championships scheduled for 16th June at the same venue.  We wish them well and can’t wait to hear how they competed later in the term.

Results from the meet: Daniella 3rd, Rueben 7th, Olivia 23rd, Julian 25th, and Carlos 36th.  Congratulations to you all for your effort and participation at Division Cross Country. We are all very proud of you!
