PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Dear Families

School Council:

Our Council met last night to cover a range of issues, reports and planning. On behalf of the community I must thank the parents and staff who make the time to undertake this role. It is another conduit between the community and our school. It was also refreshing to actually meet face to face once again. Agenda items for last night included:

  • Election of Office Bearers. Congratulations and thank you to the following;

                 President:             Tony Lee.

                 Vice President:   David Meade.

                 Treasurer:             David Meade.

  • Facilities: Repairs to our current shade sail is happening soon, New sails are ordered and we await construction, 2 new flag poles have been ordered and our gardening club is very active.
  • Curriculum: Included outlines of NAPLAN 2022, our Annual Implementation Plan progress and an outline of 3 way interviews.
  • The Report Writing Day was ratified. Care for the day is available via Cheryl in Out of School Care. Please note: The day care does not attract Government subsidies.
  • Chilwell will be used as a polling booth on Saturday.
  • Policies in Student Wellbeing and Engagement and Yard Supervision were tabled for discussion.
  • Finance statements were tabled. This included the adjustments to the budget after our Department monies were confirmed in February.
  • Fair feedback was discussed. The profit of $28822 was very much not expected. Thank you all for coming along and making the Fair so successful. March 31 has been ratified as the 2023 date for our Fair. Pop that in the diary and look out for planning to begin!!

Fair: Feedback:

We are all aware that the Fair was a huge success. The result in terms of community attendance and the positive “feel” of the night clearly caught us all by surprise. (This included the expectations on food due to the large numbers that attended).

The planning group have given feedback on their thoughts, now we are asking for feedback from you the patrons on the night.

What went well? .........................................................

What can we improve on? ……………………………………

What new ides do you have? …………………………….

Please email this feedback through Chilwell.ps@education.vic.gov.au so the 2023 Fair can be even better.

Continuity of attendance:

We continue to have the lack of steady school attendance. This is just part of the current circumstances. The numbers of students and staff able to attend will continue to be a challenge. Thank you for your support and patience. Winter will also throw up more challenges with sniffles and colds, at this time bed and rest is the best and speediest cure.

RAT tests are now available through the office. The supply to all students and staff has finished. Please come in or ask your child to pick up a pack when needed.
