Instagram page- biglittlefeelings

This term I’ll be sharing some of my go-to Instagram pages around education, wellbeing and children. I’d love to hear from you about which Instagram pages inspire you- please reach out if you have any suggestions cbergen@stpaulba.sa.edu.au

My next recommendation is @biglittlefeelings

Kristin and Deena are child therapists who create resources for parents to not just survive the toddler years, but THRIVE.

Some of their posts that I connected with were related to how it’s OK to feel sad, mad or big feelings and the importance of using reassuring language to be there with your child.

Other post gems:

  • You’re a good mum if, for this Mother’s Day you: 9th May 2022
  • Stop crying! 12th April 2022
  • For unsafe behaviours: 12th February 2022
  • When silly play turns to ouch: 14th January 2022
  • Why messy play is good for brain development: 13th January 2022

Plus so many more!

Mother’s Day Stall thanks

A HUGE thank you to Jess Deer for the organisation of the Mother’s Day Stall last Thursday morning. This was a special opportunity for children to purchase an array of beautiful gifts for their mothers or special person in their life. A big thanks to a number of teachers and support staff who also helped with the selling of gifts, set up and pack up. We are truly blessed to have an amazing group of staff at St Paul Lutheran!

Official School Photos- Advance notice-

Post holiday tech reset

Throughout Term 1, I spent a lesson each week working alongside the Year 3 (‘iLearn’) and Year 4 (‘iTime’) teachers upskilling the children in areas around: cyber safety, email etiquette and for Year 4 gradual release of iMessage, Facetime and downloading home apps. An article I read by Australian author, Rebecca Sparrow, outlined some tips to support you and your family in a ‘post holiday tech reset’. Rebecca Sparrow shares:

Often school holidays see parents giving kids a bit more freedom with their devices - more time and maybe more apps. But how do you reset the rules once school is back?

I always wonder what tech teachers do with their own kids?!!

In this blog post, tech expert (and teacher) Rachael Yates shares how she handles devices and social media with her two high school aged daughters. It's worth reading if you're looking for more strategies on managing devices at home (and wanting fewer battles!)
