U turns in Murphy Street

Notice to those parents who do U turns in Murphy Street at drop off or pick up times. This is an extremely dangerous move on a narrow street in front of a very busy school. In future number plates will be recorded and the offenders will be reported to police.

NAPLAN

We completed our NAPLAN for 2022. All students who were in attendance during NAPLAN week completed the assessment requirements. This year was the first year that the Year fives were to complete all elements online, including the writing assessment. The progress was smooth with little disruption due to device failure or connection drop out.

For those students who missed their opportunity to sit any of the NAPLAN assessments, we will provide opportunities next week. The days, dates and times will be uploaded to SENTRAL. Unfortunately we cannot provide individual access as the times are set as part of the NAPLAN process.

Teacher replacement

It's great to have all our teachers back this term. It's been sometime since we have had the opportunity to say that with a level of confidence.

However we are still experiencing staff shortages, for a variety of reasons. We are constantly trying to replace teacher absences, but the pool of replacement teachers is incredibly low.

New school buildings

We have finally moved to the next stage of the process; the tendering process. We expect that construction should start sometime during early term three. The initial impact on the school will be mainly confined to the west or top oval. There will be no impact on our existing classroom or learning programs in the classrooms or specialist programs for the remainder of 2022.

2023 Foundation enrolments

Reminder to existing parents that if you intend enrolling your child for Foundation 2023 please complete the current enrolment form. By providing us with this information, it helps us plan for 2023.

Assemblies - Term 2

As we move toward winter the Mondays where it rains will increase. To reduce confusion, we have decided that assemblies will be cancelled if there is any likelihood of rain on the day. We will base this decision on BOM forecast of the 7:00 p.m. Sunday forecast. If the school is wet at 9.00am then no assembly will occur. If it is dry, but the percentage of rain at 3:00 p.m. is at or greater than 25%, then the assembly will be cancelled at 9.00 a.m.

We hope this will reduce any confusion amongst staff, students, or parents.

Cinema Night

The night is still going ahead. Make sure you have the appropriate wet weather gear for the night.
