Student Wellbeing for Engaging Literate Learners

Positive Behaviour for Learning Lessons

Our Term 2 PBL approach has more of a Responsible and Respectful expectation focus. We have many lessons around how we talk and treat one another and how to use our equipment and facilities appropriately. We continue to use the whole school approach to perpetuate this message so that this talk filters through our school from prep to year 6. There are some video links with the lessons - feel free to click and watch our amazing students showing the weekly expectations.

Our lessons for term 2, week 4 to week 7 are below:

Week 4 Focus: Be responsible in eating and learning areas - place your rubbish in the bins and keep classrooms neat and tidy.

Week 5 Focus: Be respectful in all settings - be respectful in the way we speak to others. Use respectful, kind language and be mindful of how we talk to our teachers, family and friends (choosing the right time and the right manner to engage each other).

Week 6 Focus: Review school wide expectations - BE respectful, BE responsible and Be Safe.

Week 7 Focus: Be respectful in the toilet areas - respect others' privacy and use the toilets for their intended purpose. Focusing on the importance of privacy and appropriate use of facilities in our toilets. A respectful attitude to allow everyone to do their "business" in private, use the facilities respectfully, wash hands and leave within an appropriate time.

We are still looking for willing, wonderful Mums, Dads or Carers to be part of our PBL team. Please let Michele Lyne or Hayley Freemantle know. We meet twice a term to have PBL discussions and would value your contribution.

Smiling Mind App

Already this year, as a community, we have experienced some huge disruptions and impactful events including flooding, COVID interruptions and the passing of a much loved and admired staff member. These experiences have been particularly challenging for the mental health of everyone, especially children. Managing your child’s emotions during a time when you are also facing new challenges yourself can be even more difficult to navigate – helping your child manage their emotions isn’t always easy.  Visit https://blog.smilingmind.com.au/navigating-emotions-with-your-child for more information about how you can support your child to manage their emotions.
