Creativity takes courage. Henri Matisse

Hello RHPS Artists,

Clay, clay, clay, all day, everyday! Our senior artists worked extremely hard to create amazing stoneware mugs (Grade 5/6) and Ndebele Houses (Grade 3/4) last week.

Using slab clay techniques, we rolled, cut, scratched and scored our pieces and had fabulous success. Yes, we had a handful of wonderful failures, but as we know with clay, we roll it back up and try, try again.

It certainly is a favorite medium in the art room that  takes patience and care and I can't wait till we get to glaze these masterpieces.

GRADE 5/6 STONEWARE MUGS!

GRADE 3/4 NDEBELE HOUSES!

As our clay dries ready for  firing the Grade 3/4 students will turn their attention to learning about the Maasia Tribe of Kenya and create an African inspired piece of artwork.

The Grade 5/6 students are venturing into sculpture making and creating an African animal of choice using a range of resources and a new medium, modroc.

Lots of funs and learning to come.

Have a wonderful week.

Keep Creating,

Mrs. Granger
