ACC INTER-SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY
Congratulations to the ACC Inter-School Cross Country team on their efforts at Perry Lakes yesterday. The John Wollaston team consisted of 44 students competing against approximately 330 students in each race. Some of the top individual results from our team include:
- U13 Girls: Emily Bailey - 9th place
- Olivia Dodds - 12th place
- U14 Boys: Dylan Bailey - 2nd place
- U14 Girls: Samantha Wood - 10th place
- U15 Girls: Jennifer Roughton - 11th place
- U16 Girls: Shanay Del Borrello - 10th place
- U14 Inclusive Girls: Laura Fashho - 1st place
STEPHANIE LURSSEN
Congratulations to Year 12 student, Stephanie Lurssen on her acceptance into the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) International Program. Stephanie will spend four days at the National University of Singapore Science Summer Camp attending a series of lectures by university professors, creative workshops, demonstrations and visits to research labs. In January, Stephanie joined 180 students at the NYSF Year 12 Program in Brisbane for a 12-day residential experience.
BRIGID KING
Congratulations to Year 11 student, Brigid King who was awarded a highly coveted Assist Scholarship for 2018/19. Receiving one of only two places, Brigid will be attending The Ethel Walker School in Connecticut, USA as part of a US exchange program for 12 months. A keen rider, Brigid will pursue her passion at The Ethel Walker School renowned for its riding and academic excellence.
DYLAN BAILEY
Congratulations to Year 9 student, Dylan Bailey for his victory in the All Schools Cross Country event. Dylan ran 4km and beat 160 boys in his age category to take out the top spot.
JACOB HALE
Congratulations to Year 7 student, Jacob Hale who recently competed at the Junior Long Course Swimming State Championships over the last school holidays. He won seven state medals (one gold, four silver and two bronze) and achieved eight personal best times. Jacob has also been selected by School Sport WA (SSWA) to represent WA and John Wollaston in Hobart at the end of July competing at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships. This will be his second tour with SSWA as he competed in the Pacific School Games in December 2017.
RUSTY WISEWOULD
Congratulations to Year 6 student, Rusty Wisewould who won the National Junior Road Series on Sunday 24 May. Rusty won the individual time trial by two seconds and finished second place in the road race. On race three he attacked in the back straight to take the lead, holding it through the next two corners to sprint to the finish line and take out the top spot.
