Swimming Carnival

With 30% chance of rain and 20km winds predicted, the positive and resilient students of Rosehill Secondary School journeyed to Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre for our annual house swimming carnival. Despite the weather, student attendance was fantastic with over 900 students attending. The vibe was positive all day and it was great to see so many students participating and getting involved in all events, both swimming and novelty. The waterslides and water polo were big hits with students lining the pool to cheer students on in a very high intensity water polo competition. There were many smiles and laughs to be heard around the venue.  A massive thank you to all staff, students and PE faculty for once again helping to run such a successful College community event. Your efforts and support are much appreciated!

Once again, scores were tight all day with each house leading at different times throughout the day.

The final results of the day were:

1st place: Diamond – 500 points

2nd place: Sapphire – 464 points

3rd place: Ruby – 386 points

4th place: Emerald – 351 points

Division Swimming

On Tuesday 10th March a team of Rosehill Secondary College students headed to Queens Park Swimming Pool for the annual Division Swimming. With the memory of our wintery school carnival only days before, the sun was out and shining at Queens Park. The students gave it their all and supported each other with good spirit. A big congratulations to Chloe Griffin who once again has qualified for the regional finals in Geelong to be held later this term. We wish her luck in all her events!

Year 9/10 Boys Volleyball

On Thursday 5th March the Intermediate boys competed in the Division Volleyball at Buckley Park College. A big congratulations to the boys who have been tirelessly training all year - unfortunately  we narrowly lost to Buckley Park in the final. The team have put in so much effort and training and encouraged each other throughout the whole day.  Bring on next year boys!

Senior Boys Badminton

On Tuesday 3rd March the Senior Boys competed in Division Badminton. There were some quality shots and skills on display from some very talented players.  A special mention to Jimmy Phonyiam (year 11) who successfully won all of his games.  Well done boys!

Year 7/8 Boys Cricket

Game one saw us take on an impressive looking outfit in Buckley Park. The boys played very well and won the game. A special mention to Samarveer Singh who took an amazing 5 wickets!  Aarav Saxena retired at 50 runs and Ryan Rutledge took one of the best catches of the day. The boys then played Strathmore in the final and were unfortunately beaten. A special mention to Aarav who captained and ran the whole day.  He had the respect of all players and displayed great leadership. There was great sportsmanship by the whole team.

Thank you to the helpers Anoosha Thambi, Maddison Reynolds and Tori Foster (Year 10) for scoring and umpiring throughout the day.

Year 7/8 Girls Cricket

It was great to see our school enter a Junior Girl’s Cricket Team, the first in a few years. The girls were enthusiastic and positive all day despite the heat! There were many great bowls and big hits from the girls in both matches. A special mention to Remi Watters and Stephanie Mitchell who displayed some amazing cricket skills all day.  Well done girls for your participation and efforts.

Intermediate Girls Volleyball

A big well done to the Year 9/10 Girls’ Volleyball Team who finished a narrow second to Strathmore.  The girls won all their other games with excellent skill execution and teamwork. They lost to Strathmore by a couple of points in both sets, which could have gone either way! The girls were fantastic, showing positivity and excellent sportsmanship.  Well done girls!  We will be back next year!
