Please read the document below for an important update regarding the Coronavirus from the Tasmanian Government Department of Health.

Awesome effort from our NSATIS Swimming Team

Congratulations to our NSATIS swim team for their performance at Tuesday’s carnival. We were very impressed with the amazing attitude and sportsmanship of all the team members. The fact that LCS had a great team organised despite it being before our own carnival and it also being a student free day was testament to the quality of the character of the team members.

While we came 6th overall [out of 6 :)], we did have some stand out individual performances and grade group performances. Most notably the Open Boys who came 3rd in the Open Pennant. Well done to Tom Sladden, Jordan Reitsema, Jamieson Hadley, Josiah Rowlands and David Brain who all swum events in this age group.

Each individual race is divided into 2 heats of 6 swimmers each (4 heats in Freestyle). The final results are calculated by comparing the times of these 2 heats (4 heats in freestyle) and ranking the fastest to the slowest out of the 12 swimmers (24 in the Freestyle).  Well done to the following students who placed in their races!

Tom Sladden

1st in Open Boys 50m Butterfly Heat (1st out of 12 overall)

1st in Open Boys 50m Breaststroke Heat (2nd out of 12 overall)

1st in Open Boys 50m Backstroke Heat (3rd out of 12 overall)

1st in Open Freestyle Heat (6th out of 24 overall)

Jordan Reitsema

1st in Open Boys 50m Backstroke Heat (1st out of 12 overall)

1st in Open Boys 50m Butterfly Heat (2nd out of 12 overall)

1st in Open Boys 50m Breaststroke Heat (5th out of 12 overall)

Kiara Sturdy

3rd in U/15 Girls 50m Breaststroke Heat (3rd out of 12 overall)

Edward Palmer

A special shout out to Nicky Farmer and Gail Martin-Shepherd who assisted with timekeeping, Natalie Laws who assisted with marshalling and Stephanie Sebastian who assisted with team supervision. Thanks also to Mr Ryan Bosker for his awesome effort in getting a LCS team together and all the parents, grandparents and friends who came along to support.

Welcome to Year 7 BBQ

What a great night we had at our Welcome to Year 7 BBQ.  Over 250 people attended and there was heaps of delicious food to eat as well as a cracking BBQ under the supervision of our Groundsman, Mr John van Donselaar.  It was a wonderful opportunity for families and staff to connect and have good conversations around food.  What better way to connect and get to know others!  Thank you to everyone who supported this event and special thanks to our wonderful support staff who have BIG servant hearts!

We also have some plates and bowls provided by parents for our Welcome BBQ's that need to return to their home. If you attended any of our Welcome BBQ's and are missing something please check this picture and pop in to our office where they are waiting for collection.

Congratulations to Trinity Inall-Bejah

Congratulations to Year 10 student Trinity Inall-Bejah who received two medals on the weekend in the State Athletics Championships in Hobart. Trinity came first in the 200m with a time of 26.88 and second in the 100m with a time of 13.01.  Trinity trains with the Newstead Athletics Club and competes in the under 18 women’s division. Having only competed since April 2019 she is producing excellent results! Trinity will now go on to represent Tasmania in the National Championships at the end of this month in Sydney. What an awesome achievement!

North Melbourne Football Club Schools Superclinic

Some of our Year 3 - 6 students had the opportunity to attend the North Melbourne Football Club Schools Superclinic at Windsor Park last week. We had awesome weather and what a highlight for students it was.  There were a number of activity stations to visit and plus some great coaching.  Thanks to North Melbourne FC for organising this - our students loved it!

Northern Rangers at LCS

Last week our Year 3 - 6 students enjoyed a workshop with the Northern Rangers Soccer Club. There was a lot of activity on our Junior oval and our students thoroughly enjoyed their time together.  It was a great opportunity for new skills to be gained and to have some fun together in the sun.  Thanks to Northern Rangers for providing the soccer clinic to the students at our school.

Staff vs Student Matches at LCS

A big thank you to PE teacher, Mr Macqueen who is coordinating the Staff vs Students matches at LCS this year. Its been a raging success so far, and the gym was packed to the rafters last week as our students prevailed in Futsal, 5-3. It was an epic match with some salubrious skills on show.

This Futsal result evens the ledger at 1-1 as our teachers won the Basketball game 2 weeks ago. Games are held every Week A Thursday @ lunchtime and next up is Ultimate Frisbee in Week 7 and Netball in Week 9. These games will be great to see and thanks to everyone who is taking part.

Winter Uniform Sale Day

A reminder to all parents that students need to wear Winter Uniform in Term 2 & 3 at LCS.  To help you get ready, our Uniform shop is having a sale day on Wednesday 22nd April from 2 - 7pm.
