Wear It Purple Day

Dress up in purple or rainbow clothes this Friday, 27 August, and be part of our Purple Selfie Competition in celebration of our 2021 Wear It Purple Day!

Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. Watch out on social media and the next newsletter for photos of the day!

DIY Lunchtimes

Earlier this term, Mrs Parry and Mrs Dobos were facilitating lunchtime sessions as part of our Learning and Support Team wellbeing program. The group was so popular that it was expanded from Thursdays each week, to both Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The DIY group supports students in connecting with peers and providing safe and constructive lunchtime activities, while expanding our creativity skills. We’ve tried our hand at airdry clay, jewellery making, kinetic sand and modelling clay, mindful colouring, finger knitting, and sharpie painted mugs.

All are welcome to come along in C104 Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes when we return to back to on-site learning!

Rainbow Club

NSW Deputy Police Commissioner, Gelina Talbot, visited the ASC Rainbow Club after hearing great things about it. We hosted Commissioner Talbot and other local police, when they meet and chat with members about their experiences and the impact of the Rainbow Club.

Commissioner Talbot is keen to continue the relationship between the Rainbow Club, ASC and NSW Police, to build strong and meaningful relationships and strengthen our community. They were keen to be involved with the school's Wear it Purple celebrations coming up this Friday.

Scripture Union Leadership Conference

Eight of our students participated in the Scripture Union Leadership Conference in Tamworth during the first week of the July holidays. The 5-day conference included training in public speaking, mentoring, and running student-led groups, as well as daily Bible teaching from the book of James. There were many opportunities to share ideas and resources with like-minded students from the ten schools represented at the conference.

BOOST, the ASC Christian student group, will directly benefit from the training these students have undertaken. BOOST is currently on pause while Covid-19 restrictions are in place.
