From the Junior VP

Leesa Needham

This newsletter is dedicated to our TEM Junior family to highlight all our players and teams and recognise our amazing umpires and coaches.

Although not complete, the juniors did still have a busy 2021. We started the year with Indoor hockey, then our TEM Academy sessions, Hockey Roadshows in primary schools in Term 1, a wonderful Friday Night Lights in May and then squeezed in two thirds of a season. We had a huge number of TEM representatives selected in the Central Flames teams who played in State Championships in July, as well as a number of Victorian representatives in the U15 and U18 teams.

We welcomed new members, made new friends and had a great time on the hockey pitch for the short time we did have.

Although we are all frustrated and disappointed we didn't get to have a full hockey season, I am so grateful we got to play SOME hockey and still enjoy being part of our wonderful club even if it was short lived this year.

We had the first ever 'Virtual' Junior presentation night via Zoom last night (see pic above.) which was fantastic! We had three separate sessions for the different age groups where we presented the Best and Fairest, Coaches awards and Perpetual trophies. It was wonderful to see everyone's happy faces again and it makes me look forward even more to seeing you all in person on the hockey pitch hopefully some time in Term 4 for Summer hockey.

This has been a tough year for a lot of people and especially our young members. I know a lot of kids are struggling with mental health and we would love to help out in any way possible. So parents, please feel free to reach out if there's anything we can do to help in any way. Maybe it's a catch up with their coaches for hit at the hockey club or even just for a chat. We are here for you.

Thank you to all our wonderful coaches and managers we had this year as well as our awesome parents. The junior section, more than any section in the club relies on the generosity of so many volunteers, so thank YOU!

I hope you enjoy this special edition on TEMpo and reading all about the future of our club, our juniors.
