Can you tell us about what you’re studying and where you work at the moment?

I’ve just finished my Bachelor degree in Science/Arts and will start a Master of Secondary Teaching in 2022. Currently, I’m working full time at Bunnings on the trade desk and know more about timber than I ever thought I would…

How did you get into playing hockey?

Back in primary school, John Law told dad that it was the next best thing to footy and here we are 12 years later!

You moved to TEM from Waverley a number of years ago. What was it that made you see the light and drew you to the best hockey club in Melbourne? 😉

Rach Graven finally convinced me to move across after a few years.

(ironically, Rach Graven is now playing at Waverley!-Ed.)

You’ve been part of the Premier League Reserves the past few years and this year were coached by Sam who happens to be your boyfriend. How did that go for both of you?

Hmmm everything was just about as clear as mud! Nah, it was a great experience for both of us, definitely a learning curve on both parts, but overall such a wonderful team to be a part of as both a player and coach.

You have worked hard on your coaching the last few years to now be a Level 2 Coach. Congratulations! What is it you enjoy most about coaching?

It’s a very rewarding experience to see how far players come in just one season. Especially having coached juniors for a few years at TEM now, it’s great to see the progression of players that I had in U10s and where they’ve come to. On top of the individual players, the game of working out how best to support your team through various tactics is a great challenge.

This year you played Reserves, coached school hockey, coached our U16 Girls team, helped out with U10s, took women’s training on a Wednesday nights and mentored many of our younger coaches. Do you ever get much spare time to yourself when hockey is on?

haha… not a whole lot, I guess it’s a good thing I love the sport.

What have you been doing to keep yourself busy without hockey these last couple of months?

I was lucky enough to start full time work the week that this lockdown started so I’ve probably been busy to the point I don’t know where hockey would fit in at the moment! That, and lots of running to try and kill what downtime I do have.

What do you miss not being able to do the most being in lockdown?

Being able to see people

What would you say is the best part of being a member of TEM?

$5 Furphies

Do you have any secret talents that you’d like to share with us?

I’ve come to see myself almost a professional gamer since the start of lockdown

If you were able to have dinner with 3 famous people from the past or present, who would they be?

Barack Obama, Luke Parker and Pink
