Happy Reading

Term 3 is a big term in any school Library. Not only do we reach the conclusion of the Premier's Reading Challenge 2021 at the end of August but we celebrate all things to do with reading during Book Week in mid August.

Victorian Premier's Reading Challenge 2021

7 students have now completed the Challenge for this year!

Foundation, Years 1 & 2 - Read or experience 30 books - These will be registered by the Librarian from class reading.

Years 3 - 9 - Read or experience 15 books (including at least 10 from the set list of 1000s of books) - These will be registered by students with assistance of the Librarian.

Year 10 - Read or experience 15 books (including at least 5 from the set list)

Books read in class are counted. Please contact the Library if you need a reminder of your username and password or help to access the website.

Students who complete the Challenge will receive a certificate from the Premier and a ticket in the draw for prizes in Term 4.

Book Week 2021

We love to celebrate Book Week!

We have all the short-listed books available in the Library. We are planning activities and a Book Parade for everyone to express their love of reading. Keep aware of announcements and information over the next few weeks. Start organising a costume related to your favourite book or character. The theme this year suggests fantasy or historical fiction, sci-fi or adventure.

New Books

We have a load of new Graphic Novels and Senior Fiction.

Alice Pung has written another novel, "One Hundred Days". 16 year old Karuna is held captive by her family after "disgracing" the family and must endure the changes in her relationships within the small flat. Reminders of lockdown, perhaps?

"Echo in the Memory" by Cameron Nunn focuses on a fifteen year old boy, Will, sent to live with his grandparents. Two parallel stories emerge that lead to a crisis of identity.

"When We Are Invisible" by Claire Zorn is a futuristic adventure story by this terrific Australian writer for Young Adults. Set in the midst of a nuclear Winter three teenagers escape Sydney in search of safety.
