Principal's Message

Term 3 Week 1

Welcome back everyone.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy school holidays and we look forward to welcoming you all for Term 3. Curriculum Overviews for classes and Specialist Classes will be published via the Sentral parent portal.

Aussie of the Month

It was Mr O'Hern's and my pleasure to present Emily C with the Aussie of the Month Award. Emily is a thoughtful student, whose love of learning and curiosity assist in motivating them to achieve new learning goals. She always works hard to finish their work and is able to use the Success Criteria to ensure they have completed each task to a high standard.

Emily consistently demonstrates leadership in her classroom through her willingness to assist her peers where she can. She always supports her teammates and shows great sportsmanship to encourage those around her. An example of this leadership was when Emily recently spent time in 3/4 Sport to share her skills with their fellow teammates. Outside of the classroom, Emily has participated in football, cricket and cheerleading, as well as extra curricular school activities including dance troupe and senior choir.

Emily is polite and patient and always upholds the school values. She is willing to share her ideas and is often looked to for guidance in the 3/4 Independence Centre. Mount Pleasant Road is lucky to have Emily as a member of our school community, and we congratulate her for receiving the Aussie of the Month Award. Well done, Emily.

Junior School Production

Congratulations to Mrs Andrews and all of the Junior School for putting on the most amazing production of Colour Catastrophe. It was a treat to see each class preform, their song and dance routine - all held together by the Colour Detective Narrators - two representatives from each class that rehearsed and delivered their speaking parts.

I was very proud to be a part of the audience with the Senior School who showed much respect and enjoyment in the show. They are to be commended for the way they conducted themselves and were told so by their teachers.

Also thankyou to Mis Kitteringham and Mrs Sutherland who helped out with stage management and rehearsals.

We took the opportunity to present flowers and cards to Mrs Andrews and Ms Uhlendorf (for the Art Show) from School Council on behalf of the school community.

These events even when we are unable to have parents in the audience are still a very important part of school life. Even with the additional flexibility and adaptability called for, staff are commended for making sure our students have a range of experiences to enhance their learning. Thank you to our parents who supported the production with all the efforts around costumes.

If you would like to purchase a DVD or USB of the production please follow the link below. It truly was a performance to remember.

ICE Showcase

This was the best event with which to finish our term. Much excitement from all of the Senior School as we witnessed comedic performances,  dance routines and magic!  The Junior School showed a great deal of interest in all the Showcase displays. Huge thanks and congratulations to Miss Campbell and Miss Richardson for their perseverance and enthusiasm. With so many interruptions to our 10 weeks and then the challenges of not being able to have our Community Volunteers to run ICE

Congratulations Mr O'Hern

Matt and his wife Kirsten welcomed Lennie Rose O'Hern on Wednesday 30th June. Both Kirsten and Lennie are doing well and we wish them all the best at this time. While Mr O'Hern is on leave for these two weeks Mr Shaw is Acting Assistant Principal.

Senior School Swimming

The Year 3-6 students began their two week swimming program today. Make sure your child has all their things for swimming. There were a few phone calls today to make sure everyone had a chance to start the program. Students not attending will participate in a dry swimming program back at school.

3 Way Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

Next week bookings will open via Sentral for the Conferences. All students attend the conference with their parents in the students classroom. The conference is an opportunity for the students to reflect on their progress, discuss their goals and next steps to support them in their learning.
