Principal's Post

Dear Families,

It was great to be back at school last week; Wednesday for the students and most staff and Thursday for myself. Being stuck home in quarantine gives you a slight indication of what many others in our society have been experiencing at various times over the past year. I know a few of our St James families were also in quarantine last week. At least there have been some very exciting events at the Olympic Games to watch. Go Aussies!

While we have commenced activities on the school grounds after hours; netball training and Auskick, we will continue our practice of having parents remain off site for this week. Thank you for your understanding of this as we continue to keep St James COVID free.

We are hoping that we receive advice this week that it should be safe to open up to external providers and parents the following week.

Tomorrow evening we will hold our first School Advisory Council Meeting for the term online. We will review the parent feedback received regarding our new Student Report Format via surveys many of you completed over the school holiday period. This is a fitting opportunity to remind parents who have not yet completed the feedback to their children to do so tonight please. Class teachers copy this feedback and file it into all student's files.

Confirmation Update

The ceremony for Saturday 7 August has been postponed until Friday 10/Saturday 11 September when Fr Dispin and Bishop Tomlinson hope that we will be able to have greater numbers in attendance.

We have rescheduled the Student Reflection Day for this Friday.

Please pray for our Year Six students who are preparing to celebrate the Spirit in their lives.

Concert Production Update

Given our COVID times (restriction on numbers of audience members at venues, restrictions of number of performers permitted on stages, etc) our concert committee have met a few times and made the following decision regarding our concert production.

St James students will be presenting a performance of our learning, ‘We are One, We are Many’

The whole school performance will be filmed on Monday 11 October here, at school in the Community Centre and DVDs or links be available for purchase by parents.

Parents will be invited to attend evening performances to view your children live on Tuesday 12 October (Prep - Yr 3) and  Wednesday 13 October (Yr 4 - 6) here in the Community Centre. Of course this will depend on parents being permitted on site due to COVID restrictions at the time.

Mini Mission Fete

We have rescheduled the date for our Mini Mission Fete to Monday 30 August. Hopefully COVID restrictions will permit us to hold this great event then. Stay tuned for more detailed information over the coming weeks.

The Year 5 and 6 students are looking forward to running our Mini Mission Fete and are busy getting their stalls ready.
